IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Does Howe Ranch use antibiotics?
We do use antibiotics when it is absolutely necessary. However, we follow USDA guidelines, by waiting a set amount of days after the antibiotic is given to process the steer. This ensures that none of the antibiotic will be in the steers system at the time of slaughter. Thus, there will not be any antibiotic in the beef you consume.
  • What do you feed your cattle?
Our cattle are raised in wide open grass pastures and grain finished for the last 60 days prior to processing. We have found that grain finishing creates more flavorful and tender beef.
  • What is the carcass data for Howe Ranch Beef?
    ....
  • How does Howe Ranch raise their cattle?
We wait to breed our heifers until they are fully matured to ensure that they have no difficulty calving or carrying the calf to term. Once they are fully matured, they are bred and they carry the calf almost to term in their wide open grass pastures. A few weeks before they are due they are moved to a smaller (yet still very large) pasture near our house to calve. By moving them to a smaller pasture we are able to keep a close watch to make sure birth goes smoothly for both mom and baby. They stay in the smaller pature until we are certain that the mother has fully recovered and the calf is healthy, eating well, and old enough to travel easily. They are then moved back to their larger pastures where they will stay until weaning.
