ABOUT HOWE RANCH
Our family has been actively involved in agriculture here in Sulphur since 1906. In 1906 Charles F. Howe moved to a small community south of Sulphur called "Nebo". He and his family owned the general store that doubled as a post office and milked a few dairy cows on the side. Charles F. Howe married Myrtle Bailey and had 5 kids. One of which was Samuel F. "Pamp" Howe, who married Mozelle "Slick" Blackwell in 1934. They purchased most of land that is Howe Ranch today. However, they had dairy cows instead of beef cattle. In 1938 they established the first Grade A milking barn in southern Oklahoma. Pamp served as the Oklahoma American Milk Producers (AMPI) Manager, and later as the General Manager for Southern Region AMPI. He Also received He received the 1st Governors Outstanding Achievement Award in Agriculture, the Oklahoma Farmer & Rancher in 1964, and served on numerous state and local boards. Pamp and Slick had two children Pat and Dorothy. Pat graduated from Oklahoma State University and married Marilyn Wilson. Over time he transformed our ranch from dairy to beef cattle.
Pat and Marilyn's son Patrick runs Howe Ranch today. During his time running the ranch, he transformed our herd from crossbred cattle to the Commercial Black Angus we have today. He has also worked hard to improve the quality and number of cattle. He was the 2017 Murray County Cattleman of the Year and 2017 Oklahoma Angus Association Commercial Producer of the Year. Patrick married Amy Clark in 1992 and they have two daughters, Samantha and Faith. Samantha completed her Ph. D. at the University of Arkansas in 2024 and is currently a Post-Doctoral Scholar at the U of A. She was awarded a USDA NIFA grant to continue her research on Bovine Respiratory Disease. Samantha married Wyatt Catron in 2023. Wyatt completed his DVM in 2024 and is currently employed with the Joplin MO sale barn.
